If you have a check engine light on and you don't want to have to go to a parts store, then this is a great choice. You can read and clear the codes at home and it can support all of the OBDII protocols. It will give you a readout of what the codes are. as well as what you can do to fix the issue.

It can get annoying and frustrating having to run to the mechanic or parts store to have them run their engine fault code reader every time your check engine light comes on. The ANCEL AD310 will make it possible to check and clear the codes at home.

While you might trust your mechanic more than yourself, this diagnostic code reader will let you do the same thing they will do with the same results and answers. If you don’t think you can do the fix yourself, then you can take it to the mechanic with the codes and issues that the scanner told you.

Built & Design

This engine code reader is just a small little tool. It only weighs about 12.3 ounces and a few inches long. It has a 2.5 feet long cable so you don’t have to be all crunched in a tight area trying to read the codes.

The tool itself is black with orange symbols and letters on the buttons. The top of the tool has the brand name and the cable is black as well.

It has an easy to see LCD screen and you can choose several languages, including English, German, French, Spanish, Finnish, Dutch, Russian, and Portuguese. It’s simple to use because it only has 4 buttons, which are: up, down, enter, and exit.

One the codes come across the screen, you don’t have to go and look up what they mean because the tool will explain to you right on the screen. It will also let you know what you can do to fix it.

You don’t have to charge it or use batteries because it gets power once it’s plugged into the outlet in the car. This means you’ll have to keep it plugged in so you can read the results all the way.

ANCEL AD310 OBD II Fault Code Reader

LCD Screen: This reader has an LCD screen that has a backlight. This is great for trying to scan while it’s dark or with limited light. The backlight will let you see everything on the screen clearly with little to no issues.

Shows Live Data: It will let you see live data in real time. Some of the data you’ll be able to see is volts, RPM, speed, open loop, closed loop, and fuel system status. In short, this data comes from the different sensors, switches, and actuators in your vehicle.

Integrated OBD-II DTC lookup library: The lookup library makes it so that you don’t have to look in a codebook or online because it can find the code right in the system. The library is massive and has pretty much any code that can be thrown by the vehicle.

Shows Code Definition: You won’t have to look up the definition or meaning of the code that it shows because it will tell you right on the screen what it means. Once you know exactly what it means, you can look up other information about it from there.

Clears Codes: Once you know why the check engine light is on, you can then go and get the issue fixed. Once the issue is fixed, you can use the scanner again then it will make the check engine light go off.

In terms of compatibility, this model can work with several different models. The main thing is that it needs to be a 12-volt battery and the plugin for the scanner needs to have 16 pins. If your vehicle doesn’t have either of these, then it won’t work.

It can also work with all of the different OBDII protocols, including ISO9141, KWP2000, J1850 PWM, J1850 VPW and CAN. Having the ability to do this is something that not many models have. These different protocols have to do with different kinds of vehicles. This means that this scanner can be used with a wider range of vehicles because it can work with these different protocols.

Installation is extremely easy with the ANCEL AD310. There should be a little area either underneath the dashboard or below the emergency brake in the center console. All you have to do is plug the reader in and turn the ignition on. The reader will then read you the codes that your vehicle is throwing and then you’ll be able to see what you can do to fix it.

Note that Worth: Is the ANCEL AD310 a Good Buy?

This product might not be as fancy or high-tech as other models, but it’s great for just running and clearing codes. The fact that it lets you know what the underlying cause of the engine light coming on means that there will be less guesswork and run around.

If you want a model that works well with multiple different types of vehicle and can go through a comprehensive list of codes, then this one is a great choice.
